74 challenger capacitator attached to coil mount

I am currently in the process of replacing some intake gaskets and while removing the coil I noticed a cap. That was attached using the coil mounting bolt. I did some research and it looks like its radio related. My question is an I right about the radio? Do I need to keep it?

That capacitor was a way of keeping down the whine in the radio in the old days.

No you don't need to keep it.

I took mine off, and haven't had any problems with the whine.

You may want to list it on ebay.  If it's in good shape you might get a few bucks from someone looking to restore a car to "original".  I had a hard time finding one when I thought I needed it.

I was actually speaking to a guy here locally that I buy some parts from and he said if I do remove it to keep it because they are hard to find if I ever do consider a nut and bolt restoration. I think I will just keep it on there.

It was also in a TSB (technical service bulletin) Added after customers complained about radio noise. You car may not have had it new.
