Old junkyard dog with new technology
« on: December 29, 2007 - 11:21:05 AM »
I have always been on the lookout for old cars whenever I am travelling back roads areas or places I haven't been before, but my wife isn't always so understanding about being late to our destination because we stopped to see if an old car behind the barn is for sale.  I used to take notes on the location of these "treasures" in order to return later, but I often could not find them again because I am horrible with directions, and my map drawing looks more like 2 year olds art.  Now that we have a navigation system in the cars, I have found that I can mark my current location and save it as a destination.  I also have a hendheld unit that does this too, and plan on using it to mark my best old junkyard sites.  Now all I have to do is come up with time and money to do something with that info.

Has anybody else come up with a good way to exploit technology for our old car habit?

That sounds like as good a method as any.  God bless new technology.

This sounds like a great way to be able to get back to a certain location. If you find a car and no one is home you will have no choice but to go back if you ever want to know if it is for sale or not.

All my old yards have dried up. I guess i thought some of that old stuff would wait on me forever.
