Question on AC lines and hoses
« on: December 26, 2007 - 06:04:50 PM »
How many hoses and lines are there in the OEM system?  I have a '70  Challenger RT/SE 383, and need to know.  Not sure what we have and what we need.  Any help and perhaps pictures would be greatly appriciated.

One from the firewall to the compressor (hard and rubber), one from the compressor to the condeser (hard with the last couple of inches rubber), one from the condenser to the reciever/dryer (hard), one from the reciever/dryer to the fire wall (hard), and there is a small tube by the fire wall connetions that hooks to both lines. I think I got then all. Im pretty sure that is the right order but you may want to check a manual. I just sold a complete set on ebay a couple of months ago. I upgraded to a sanden compressor. If you are running a sanden compressor you cann't run any of the original stuff in the engine compartment. Bouchens performance sells the complete under hood set for about $350-375. That is everything ecept the compressor and mounting bracket. It only uses about 3-4 horse to run and runs 134a.

gb70    I'm no expert, but I suspect they are the very similar between my '74 (360) and your 383..... if you want pics of OEM lines, send me a pm and I'll forward some to you.

Anywhere else where I could find some OEM lines?
Email from Bouchillon Performance below:

"Hi, Sorry we do not (at the present time ) manufacturer those line assemblys.  We just received a new machine that will give us the capabilty to manufacturer those, but it will take a good 3-5 months to get it up and running."
Thank You

I would appriciate if anyone could post the OEM lines and hoses as they are attached from a '70 E body BB car.  Please, only OEM.

I do know that the lines changed from 70 to 71. Such things as longer lines to the condenser, male/female changes on lines and drier, and different connection locations for the lines on the condenser. I cannot for sure tell you difference (I don't like throwing hersay out but might get you in the right direction) between the SB and BB A/C but from what I understand it is just the brackets for the compressor.

Pics left large incase you want to save them.
