Roof rail trim & weatherstrip question
« on: December 29, 2007 - 12:15:20 PM »
K, got 3 rolls of foam for the underside of the drip edge & the inner piece that actually holds the window seal , problem is I have no idea where to put them.
the small rolls are stick on, one's 1/2" the other about 3/4" the bigger roll is not stick on it's about 3/4" wide x 1/8" thick.
any idea where these all go? thanks Rich.

1 roll goes between the upper roof rail that hold the upper window seal in place & the body it will crush  to nothing but keeps water out between the trim & body , not sure on the other 2

Is that large roll foam or rubber?  I was just wondering if that was the rubber seal that meets the windows. It is non-stick, and is just jambed up into the channel.

Maybe these pictures will help. I believe the wide is under the chrome drip rail molding and the narrow under the door seal channel?? These pics are from my Challenger and it had not been apart before.

No it's foam, the roof rail window seal is seperate & not in the picture.
I'm thinking (now I'm in trouble) the big one goes in first right to the underside of the channel, then the drip edge goes on, the sticky ones seem to fit the seal chanel, 3/4" along the top of the chanel & the 1/2" on the back side, where it meets the body side ways, only draw back to my theory is where the screws line up the back side doesn't look like it will meet the body to form a seal? that would give me the a seal from drip edge to body & the top 3/4" would seal from the seal rail to the drip edge & foam to foam where the drip edge ends.
excuse my rough drawing but does this make sense? Rich.

K Just used the 2 sticky rolls, wide one up in channel first the the drip edge trim, then the thin one on the window seal rail . the no glue roll will be held in reserve, for what I have no Idea! Rich.

:clueless:  was just crusin ebay & saw the kit I bought, wish they would have put this note in the box.  :banghead:

Muscle Technologies kit includes roof to drip rail and drip rail to weatherstrip channel seal for all E bodies. The kit includes (2) 6' x 7/8"W x 1/8"T black, bubbly-foam strips that go between the roof and the drip rail and (2) 6' x 3/4"W x 1/16"T black acrylic foam tape with adhesive on one side. The adhesive side attaches to the top of the weatherstrip channel.

New! Now includes (2) 6' x 1"W x 1/8"T black foam tape with adhesive on one side that go between the roof and the drip rail on 72-74 E bodies.
well it looks like I did it right by accident (with a great bit of help from those pics, thanks again) Rich. ;)
