71 Challenger side stripe options
« on: January 06, 2008 - 02:46:24 PM »
What is the style of side stripes that are on the 71's? I have my build sheet but it has a code but that's about it. It shows V7W- Paint Stripe. I know it's white but isn't there a R/T stripe and a longitude stripe. It is a H code car if that matters. Thanks

71 only had 2 stripes. The one I put on my 70, and the same stripe that had a R/T call-out at the end. Colors may vary.

1971 had three stripes, logitudinal tape, longitudinal tape with R/T callouts and painted pin stripes. The V7_ stripes are the painted on stripes.

Controversy...these stripes are also coded V7X pinstripes; different from Barry's pic.  What's correct?

I've seen the '71 stripes referred to only as "71 stripes" because the longitudinal stripes (the ones that follow the body character line front to back) were '70 only.

My '73 is coded for V7B, but the stripes were gone when I got the car and I preferred the '71 stripes - minus the R/T, since there (obviously) was no R/T in '73.

'70 stripes on a '71.

 :iagree:

Just to add to the confusion though since 1970 has crept into a 1971 thread.....

At some point during the 1970 model year the stripes jumped from the midline to the top like the 1971 stripe, but they continued past the rear quarter window which is different than 1971.
