Tilting Motor

Trying to put in my driver side 2" TTI header an I took out the bolt that goes into the kmember and unhooked the torque strap and then put a block of wood under the oil pan as per tti's instructions and the motor won tilt when i jack it up ??? do i have to unhook the bolt as well that goes into the tranny???

I always lift the motors, not tilt them. Take a block of wood by the front crank pulley at jack it up. Once its lifted, you can rock it left and right, just watch it does not slip off.

Becareful where your hands are, the motor can and does slip off sometimes. Guess thats why they say to put a block of wood under the oil pan. I never have done that, well maybe for putting in headers, thats a good idea. Just be aware the motor still could come down--hate for you to get your hand crushed.

Its happened before.

i got it... needed a little more uummmppphhh..... the suspension was lifting then all of a sudden he motor started to tilt....  :2thumbs:

And please take care to NOT do what we did with my son's original rad shroud. We were doing the exact same thing and couldn't figure why the motor would not go up, jacked a little more and bang, the fan blade went vertically through the original shroud so now it is broken.

Same here but good tip, those are not cheap.
