Steel hood..steel TA scoop?
« on: January 07, 2008 - 09:09:37 PM »
I went to look for Harms Auto....and the link failed.  Is the site down?

Anyway...I need to get a TA hood.   Since OEM ones are pretty poor....and expensive, re-pop ones also suck....so what's a guy to do with the flat steel hood?
1) graft on a glass one?  AAR Fiberglass doesn't list one of those either!
2) get a Harms steel one (if still available)
3) Smash up a friggin cookie tray and JB weld my own onto the friggin hood.  Oh yeah...paint with a roller too.
4) Pay $400 for an unknown quality POS from a fly by nite fiberglass shop.
5) anyone deal with this guy??  :  http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1970-Challenger-T-A-340-6-Pack-Six-Pak-R-T-Hood-Hemi-71_W0QQitemZ370011854574QQihZ024QQcategoryZ33646QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

suggestions?  I need a hood!!!  thanks!

The guy from ebay answered my question on where the hood is made:

They are made in Mexico by Polly fiber inc. They are made to bolt on like original. The weight of the hood is about 90lbs, it's not pooly made.
Thanks,
Michael

The year one hood is $670, but who makes it?   the UP22 hoods are getting no praise......thats why I'm looking....

I bought one of these.  Paid $550, +$150 to ship to upstate NY.  Quality looks pretty good, but I haven't even set it on the car yet.  Looks pretty much like the pics on ebay.
