Vinyl top news
« on: January 15, 2008 - 06:48:52 PM »
I just received all my new / reproduction interrior for our 71 Dart from Legendary. The seat upholstery just arrived today and in the box was a newsletter. If you are restoring a car that had the gator grain vinyl top Lengendary will be making it available by the end of the year. That sounds like a long time away, but resto's take a long time too, so if you haven't already ordered a non original gato grain top wait and get the original pattern from Legenday.

A quote from the newsletter :  "Legendary Auto Interior's owner Martin Beckenbach acquired original 1969 and original 1970 Bator Grain vinyl top material over 20 years ago and retained large samples of this vinyl for future development."...............it goes on to reinerate that their new material is the exact same pattern, it would however have different cloth backer material. The vinyl pattern will be the same but the backing will be a combination of the 2 backer materials used in 1969 and 1970.

So that hard to find Gator Grain material will be available, look them up when you go to a Mopar show such as Carlisle.  :2thumbs:
1969 Polara 500 vert.
1970 Charger 500
1971 Dart Swinger
1972 R/R 440+6 (wanabe)
1973 Challenger

Are you sure she didn't give it with the car to the new owner?
