Quick, Easy Bolt question
« on: January 10, 2008 - 12:13:46 PM »
Hey guys,

This one should be simple!

I just need to know the size of the bolts that hold the transmission into the back of a 440 block - I need bolts for my (new) engine stand, and I want to buy them ahead of time.

Thanks!

3/8 16 coarse thread makes ure you are into the block at least 1/2 "
the lower corners are 7/16 & are not threaded so you need to use nuts on the other side

Did you get Grade 8 bolts for strength?
72 Cuda, owned 25 years. 496, with ported Stage VI heads, .625 in solid roller, 254/258 at .050, 3500 stall, 3.91 rear. 850 Holley DP, Reverse manual valve body.

1999 Trans Am, LS1, heads, cam, headers, stall, etc! Love to surprise the rice rockets with this one. They seem so confident, then it's "what the heck just happened?"

Yes sir - though I was told I should actually go with grade five because at least they'll stretch - grade 8's will just snap.  But I got 8's anyways.

Besides, the bolts that hold the engine stand together are only 5's...

*shrug*
