I'm #$%& hopeless at car paint etc. So mine will look like that at somestage as well  :D

How long to you think it will take to be completely painted and ready to leave the shop? Also how long has it been in there?

Cheers  8)

NZ, I don't think it'll be receiving anymore coats of primer after he's finished up getting all of the holes filled with primer.  He used an epoxy-based primer with self-etching additives to get into the minor pits and adhere everything well.  As for the time, he's just going to paint a few selected areas, so technically, the entire paint job wouldn't be complete until I get some more $$$ and finish up the rest of the bodywork.  It's been in the shop for three weeks now.  That's with one side of the car done in the first week, the passenger side that required more work, then the driver's side and the small holes here and there in the following week.  Considering the amount of work done, I don't think it took that long at all.

Are you the guy in the photo? Or are you having it Professionally done? I'm getting mine Professionally done sometime in this life lol!! (darn painters)  ;D

Is it me or in that last photo of your Passenger rear quarter, is there some slight bumps and dents?  ???

No, that's not me.  It's the shop owner's oldest son who's taking up the trade.  He's the same one who installed my new lower quarters, the donor metal on the upper quarters, and is now seen primering my car.
Yes, there are some small dents here and there on the quarters.  The passenger side was welded at three different seams there, so it warped slightly.  Then there are always the waves in the repop. quarters that need to be worked out...... ::)

360Cuda, I'm not too sure what we'll be doing there.  I'll be taking the car home after the paint is applied and the roads are clear of snow and salt again... ::)  I'll be relying on what they say as far as things to use and the proper techniques to pull out the dents and fill in the weld seams.  I'm guessing they'll suggest bondo because it's the easiest stuff to work with and when done right, will look great for years.

That he is 360Cuda.  I was really impressed with the TIG welds he did on the hood hinge area.  I wish I would have snapped a few shots of that before he primered everything.

Very cool Street!  One of my favorite parts about this resto hobby is taking something that looks really bad, working on it and looking at the end result which looks almost new....fresh primered/painted metal looks soooo good!  Good job!! Keep the pics coming!

Mike, I haven't asked how much primer he used.  All I know is there's a ton on the car.. ::)  I'll be the one finishing up the rest of the body work, so I will rely on what they suggest using to fill the seams in.  While I'm working on it, he'll be giving me pointers and a little more help if I need it.  Other than that, I'm pretty much on my own with the rest of the car.  ;D  Just the way I like it: I can still say I did mostly all of the work, yet give those guys the credit when people compliment about the quarters.  ;) 8) :P

;) I'm sure you'll progress quite well this spring/summer Street, you'll be an expert "filler" and block sander when you're done with her. Slow and  easy, and quite litterally "feel" your way through it, slow but gratifing work. Congratulations, and occassionally show us some update pics, lol.
