new exhaust system ´70 Challenger
« on: January 15, 2008 - 03:47:13 PM »

HI Guys...

Hope it is the right thread  :clueless:

I´am going to build a new exhaust system for my Challenger. I think i will have 3" stainless steel. its a big over kill on my 318 but I like the sound and the look  :jumping:

my question is.

I will hope I can use the original hangers and brackets do some of you guys have any idea how that works with a 3" exhaust. I will need all the hangers and bracket do you guys know a place where i can buy all that stuff.

Thanks Guys

Best regards

Dennis

Dr. Gas comes to mind. Also Summit Racing and Jegs. They sell various generic hangers, slip joints, ball and flange, etc.
Dr. Gas makes X and H pipes to equalize the exhaust out.

Umm I really Hope I can talk you out of this 3" on a 318 will kill the power & milage
you could run 2.25 to the muffler & or over the diff & use 3" tailpipes

HI guys

3" is overkill and i think you have right about the engine power. its a bonus at the 2,25" a lot easyer to fit and work with. And i have no plans to change to a 440 cui. so I may stay with the 2,25"

Is there a place where I can buy the original style hangers and bracket. Treid the big vendors but with no luck...

Thanks

I agree with Chryco, I overlooked the 318 part. Run 2.5" MAX to the muffs and then go to the bumper with the 3". It will give you the sound you are after. Only bad thing is, it will sound much meaner than it is.
