What kind of steering column is this?
« on: February 03, 2008 - 04:38:11 AM »
This steering column is in my 73 Cuda that is in the body shop. It's either not an ebody column, or it has been altered. It does not have the corrugated section behind the steering wheel, although it does have the thumb-lever that needs to be pressed to remove the key. Anybody know what it is from?

:chatting: It does look as though the corregated can has been removed and a deep reach steering wheel fitted in its place,  you should be able to just take off the wheel and replace it with standard can and wheel. :drunk:

So, the corrugated part is just like a big spacer, with nothing in it?

Looks like a 70 column without the crush can.

Whats the difference between a 70 column and a 73 column?

a 73 column you push a thumb lever down to take the key out. A 70 only has a group of linkage hooked to the column and shifter that turns the column to a position where the key comes out

This one definitely has the thumb lever.

Anybody have a spare corrugated section they want to sell?

This one definitely has the thumb lever.

It most likely is the original column then.
