71 Challenger R/T
« on: February 20, 2008 - 10:25:09 AM »
It seems that I am going to have to sell my driver (71 Challenger RT) in order to finance and finish my project (70 Barracuda Convertible) as well as appeasing my wife to cut down on the car stuff, and was wondering if some of you wouldn't mind giving me an opinion of what I might expect to get for my car.  The car is located in North West New Jersey and would make someone a nice everyday driver or nice easy project to put back to original if desired.  The car came from the factory as a Plum Crazy, Black vinyl top, Black interior, white stripe, 340, 4 speed car but currently it has a 360 and automatic, and it is sporting a gold and black body.  The body is in really good condition, I was told the car has been undercoated its entire life and the floors and frame rails are in great condition. Car underwent a restoration in the eighties by previous owners and received the current color treatment.  Negatives include the automatic transmission with the bolt on B&M shifter, trans leaks when sitting, but runs fine when topped off and driven, air shocks and traction bars (that i have removed), cobra radio/cb installed.  Good points include many original four speed parts were left alone during the change, such as the floor hump is still in tact, reverse light indicator and wires left in tact, they where actually wired so up to a toggle switch under the dash so that they can be used, interior is in good condition, and the options the car came with including rear defroster, front and rear sway bars, dual exhaust without rear valance cutouts and of course the 4 speed and plum crazy paint.

I also have been collecting many of the parts needed to convert back to a four speed that I may be willing to include in a sale including a rebuilt four speed trans along with the pistol grip shifter, shifter mechanism, and linkage out of a different 71 Challenger, I also have a brand new clutch, a bellhousing and inspection cover and clutch pedal setup as well as shifter boots.

Thanks for any thoughts / opinions

18-25 IMO

Depends how bad someone wants it and how long you can hold out.  Nice car though.
