440 Source Stealth Aluminum Heads

Hey Guys,
I just got off the phone with the folks at 440 Source. I am looking at their Stealth aluminum heads. Not a bad deal at $899.00 for a complete set of heads!! I was wondering if any of the folks here have used them and what's thier thoughts on them. The people there are great. Very helpful and very knowledgable. These heads have great numbers and out of the box should give my 440 a significant improvement in performance.  Anybody tried these?? If so, do ya like em??

I think there is a thread already started about these heads with pics and if I remember right someone has a set ordered also. They look really good, I am seriously thinking about a set but by the time I get to that point on my car I am sure a few people will have some good feedback on these heads. They seem to be right up my alley for a nice, powerful street driver engine.

Thanks for the link Jason. Yeah Jeff, I had to filter through 16 pages on that link.  If you can screen out all the bull and flaming, there's some good info there. From what I've read and heard, is that for a high performance street application, these heads are a vast improvement over stock 906 heads. If you want an all out race head, well then get the wallet out. Wad-da-ya expect for $899.00??  For an out-of-the box application, these are easy to bolt on. No bells or whistles or tricky machine work. I understand there may be a head gasket issue depending on the gasket used. No biggie. I also have heard of a guy running in the 10's with these heads and a roller cam on a 440. So for me, they will definitely fit the ticket, although I wouldn't mind having Jason's motor!!

From what I've learned, they won't let you have the compression ratios you could get with other, closed-chamber heads.  Quench seems to be a popular concern among the more hard-core engine builders, and these heads aren't quite up to snuff.  According to some of my preliminary simulator work, I might have to look elsewhere for heads to turn the numbers I'm looking for - 550 range or so.  There may be some other, serious modifications involved to run 10's with these heads.

Once they get the bugs worked out if they ever try... getting some decent numbers.... no need for 906's anymore....

But in reality with all the work needed 899+500ish more in machining . just buy the eddy's......

I've talked to the people at 440 source. It seems that most of the ranting is just that......no hard data. From what they tell me these heads flow as the numbers indicate and there's plenty of shop testing/hard data to indicate such. They have been checked by two independent sources and you can call them for the info. I can't remember what shop did the bench checks. I've not seen or heard from someone that actually OWNED a set of these heads with problems. As indicated by Kim from 440source. He said they only had one set returned due to shipping damage and everyone else that has used them are very happy!! There were some minor issues with I believe a certain type/brand of roller rocker (call Kim at 440 source for more info), but I am still using flat tappet. I guess it all depends in what you are looking for in a head. For my application (and the money ), it should do awesome and get me well into a low 12 ET.

matt ....... all the critiquing is coming from drivers with 8 second cars.. nasa could build a set of heads and they would find something wrong with it.....

howevr I would still shy away from the first batch......
