They are not stronger, they're just lighter. For strength you'll need a Nodular case.

They look stronger to me :clueless:  They have extra reinforcment bracing all throughout the unit. Even the caps look thicker

A problem I had with my 8 3/4 was my car weighing 3780 and launching on slicks and a transbrake. Even with 430 gears, the ring and pinions wouldn't hold up to the costant tq. Once you start hitting the ('s stroker and some 1.29 60' ft you really need some pro gears for protection. I like that housing you posted.  I will always go dana for extreme comp

:iagree:

Stroker, are you trying to talk yourself into a Dana or out of one?
If you are not going to race the car just keep the 8.75 until it gives you issues.
if all you are doing is street racing and never get it to a sticky track and start cutting sub 1.5 sixty foots you will be okay for quite awhile.
The softer pro gears will save the rear from the shock loads, but do not last on the street.
Nitrous, stick shift, Danas...sounds liek you have a lot of ideas and expenditures planned.
the through bolts on that aluminum rear make it stronger than stock housings, but you do an aluminum rear to save weight. if you think you need it for strength get the Dana or a 9 inch(forgive me) now.

I've been eyeing that case as well. I'm wanting to stick with the 8.75 mainly due to the weight issue. My goal is to get my 511RB/727TF Chally down to 3000-3200 lbs :roflsmiley:. Since I don't plan on building it for the drag strip, the abuse on the axle shouldn't be as bad (I hope). I'm building more of a daily driver and maybe play with it on an auto-x course now and then. What do you guys think? Will this housing be ok for my application?
