Anyone need an Instructional Designer?
« on: January 31, 2008 - 12:44:55 PM »
A couple of weeks ago I got notice that 8 Feb would be my last day of employment due to lack of contracts coming in. If anybody on the board works for of knows of a company that uses Instructional Designers or needs some training created, let me know.  :pullinghair:

Hey David

Have you tryed the book companies?  Might be able to find something that way.  I do not know of any right off the bat but will see if I can find some of the cards and all that I have collected over the years from the schools I have been at and taught.  I know what you are going through and sorry you are going through this.  I start my job on Saterday.  I have been really out of work since the last of march last year but have made it through.  I put my resume on line and got a lot of response from that.  I got the best response from Monster.  The job I start saterday they found my resume on line and contacted me first.  I hope you find something really quickly!!!!!   Do you have any military background?  If so you can go to the military Monster site!!!

Gordon

Sorry to hear that. Keep your chin up and something will come along. It's always better to start looking early!

Thanks, Gordon. If by book companies you mean like Chiltons or Haynes, they usually want ASE certified folks, and they don't pay too well.  As I used to say when I was up in Detroit, they can't fire me because there are 5 families on welfare who depend on my income  :naughty:

I have experience working with the military (I design training programs for the Army right now), but no experience IN the military. I don't think that counts  :grinno:

Thanks for the positive thought. At the moment I'm more disgruntled than terrified.

Hey Dave I was thinking Delmar and a few like that.  I would recomend to put your resume on line under monster and career builder.  I have had some really good luck with some of those.  Just keep positive that you will find something.  Say a prayer or two and that will help also.  Gordon

Hey Dave I did find one of the cards.  It is from International Thomson Publishing.  you might give them a call @ 773-880-1964.  Not sure it would do any good but might be worth a try anyway.  Gordon

Don't know what it is you do or what positions may be open but here in Huntsville we have a large military support industry... I heard on the news the other day there were something like 800 positions not filled locally.
