Heater Box Fix

Like I would guess most are, the outlet of my heater box has a broken edge.  Who would put such a fragile piece where you put your foot?  Anyway, is ther an easy way to fix this?  I have restored B-body heater boxes before, but this area is visible from the top and bottom (well, if you are laying on the floor mat).  Has anyone fixed their own?  Any pictures?  Thanks.

Yes there is an easy way to fix it and I already did it.

What you need is another heater box. It can be broken on in bad shape, it doesn't matter.

Cut out the bad section. Just like in my picture and use it as a reference to cut a section from the donor heater box. You'll have to find an area that has the right curvature to match that edge. I just JB weld to glue it on. Then sand and fill. Now there will be a scar where it was repaired so you will need some spray paint to match and blend it in. This stuff is about the closest I have found so far to the color but it will cover the hair pattern like what the original is like.
