Need an SE expert
« on: February 08, 2008 - 04:18:25 PM »
I didn't know where to put this so here goes.  Are the SE emblems on Challys the same as the emblem on a SE Charger?  I'm talking about the emblems that go on the sail panel.  I need two of them and I found them in the YO B/E cato for a Charger.  Thanks, Chuck

You can get repops for the challenger and they look pretty good, as I understand it the Charger has a hole on the center where the Challenger doesn't.

I see your fender tag there, I have an FE 5   R/T  SE as well.

I'll post a couple of pics of a pair I have that had been removed from an SE when it was less than two years old. Just waiting for some sunlight. In the meantime this is one that was on my car before the deconstruction began. The ones on the SE models when built had a 'pebbled' surface. Believe me i'm no expert, just learning bits and pieces and happy to pass them on

btw your A03 code is the Scheduled Production Date - October 03...

Thanks for the replys.  I'll jut keep an eye out for them.  I do have another question concerning the emblems.  How do they attach to the sail panels?  Thanks in advance.  Chuck.

Hey AMX, do you have a pic of your car.  Mine is yellow right now, second owner painted it that color.  I'm looking for a painter/shop now to go back to original color.  At least he preserved the metal painting it.  There's good in everything I guess.

Actually the Challenger does have the hole for the screw to hold it on, their is a decal over the screw to hide it. :2thumbs:

Pics of a used pair as well as the nearly new set. Also one of the outer roof soon after the vinyl top had been removed. The two holes correspond to the mounting posts on back of the emblem. Pardon the fuzzy images...
Ken, don't let anyone sell you center attaching SE emblems as being for the Challenger bud, they may work but are not correct...

Thanks onefornow,
Now I know what I'm looking for.  Thanks for all the pics too.  The pic of the SE panel outside trim helps too.  Did the indentations around the window show after the top was applied when original?  I'm gong to recover the top soon and want to know.  Thanks again....   Chuck

The gap around the rear window plug shouldn't be enough to be noticeable after the top is replaced.

Here are a couple of pics of my top with the current white vinyl.  It's going back to the original black.  You can see the window plug through the vinyl and I want to know if that is the way it looked when orginal.  The seam is just visible but the bolt holes are easily spotted.

In the area in question, my SE had like a metal looking tape over the gap, then a thin type of foam, very thin,  I need to find something similiar to replace this thin foam substance.  If anyone knows where you can get something similiar chime in.   At any rate with the tape and the foam, you wont see the gaps.    Remember the vinyl top will also have some backing also.    When I first got my RT/SE I had two rather weather worn SE emblems.   I cant find them but hope I can when the time comes.   I didnt realize they are a little pricey on Ebay.

There were some reproductions that used a screw in the middle.  I noticed the ones in the YO catalog do not have the hole.  I think the difference is the colored blades of the triangle.  The original was a clear plastice with the color under it.  The reporduction are just colored metal.  The orginals, as stated above, did not have a screw in the middle.
