The only thing air shocks do is crack the welds on the ends of the shock crossmember and shakes everything loose........ :o

Does anyone know how to re arch the springs? I have  never discovered a way to weld spring steel, but apparently there is a way to heat it and bend it in a safe and reliable manner. thanks

When I bought my first car, a 74 Road Runner, it had 6 or 8" shackles on it. It was disgusting!! Tore em off and had the springs rearched. Much better ride. A good suspension shop can rearch them and even add an inch or two to the ride height this way. Much cheaper than putting up with the shackles and/or air shocks. I have to admit, it was kind of fun with the air shocks bouncing around with 100 psi in em, prolly not safe, but I was 16, didn't really care, just wanted to put  5 people in my car with HUGE tires in the back and I cringed when the tires rubbed.

No easy way to do it at home as it involves lots a heat and tension that has to be controlled through out the arching process.  Plus a leaf spring is too big to fit into the oven.

It sounds like the guy that I bought my challenger from was quite the guy back in the day...

I've got Hi-jackers, 10" shackles (that he had to butcher the rear valance to "fit".  Oh and of course the classic white axle/differential

These are the first parts to be replaced once the body is done!

A whole lot of rust and very little time to work on it...
