Has Anyone Ever Seen....................
« on: February 14, 2008 - 10:33:41 AM »
.......a '70 'U' code (single 4 barrel 440) Cuda coded N96 for a real Shaker. My shaker set-up is not original to the car. But I've never heard of, or seen a '70 with a 440-4 and a Shaker from the factory. It has me wondering why.

I know of a couple U code Challenger N96 cars, and believe there are a couple Cudas also.   They are few and far between though!!

There were very few U code cars to begin with, and many fewer with the shaker option.  That being said, I have seen 1 real one.  It was the first U code Cuda I ever saw.  It was unrestored and a little rough at the time, and this was more than 25 years ago, so I am assuming it is either in mopar heaven, or has been fully restored to better than new condition by now.  I was kind of excited when I first saw it because at the time I was under the assumption that all Shaker cars were Hemis, and I was hoping to check out a real HemiCuda.

There was one for sale in Canada 'bout 4 or 5 years ago, it was a non-running project but #'s 440/727 N96 car.  The most unusual thing besides being a shaker car was the color combo...DY3 Cream with a white vinyl top and a red bumble-bee stripe and red interior!  Cool!

Correct. Every bit of the drivetrain and sheetmetal is original. I've had it appraised at 80k. It is EV2 Tor-Red. From my research I found out that Ma Mopar gave the go ahead to use shaker on 440-4 bbl cars in March of 70. Probably a bit too late for many to be ordered with the N96 option. I personally have never seen one in print or in real life. Still, I'm happy with my 'tribute option' .
