Are the small block bellhousings the same on both the 3 speeds and the 4 speeds?

I believe the center hole is smaller for the input shaft. Seems that I recall people were useing them for the od 4 speeds, but dont quote me on that

the bolt pattern is in the housing, matching the brg retainer size could be an issue
