another ultimate rides picture thread
« on: February 19, 2008 - 11:29:19 PM »
Didn't want to post on Confederate cuda's thread for fear of mixing up our dashes and comments. Just received my Barracuda dash today from Ultimate Rides through Nick's classic parts. First off the dash looks great, packaged well, and delivered within a week of finalizing the order. The pics to follow are of the barracuda dash. I also have a 1970 challenger dash coming as well. The comparison pics are of the cuda dash compared to my old challenger dash, so don't be too critical of the differences. I don't have the barracuda dash off the car yet to compare.

side shots-the divot on the passenger side is where a mounting screw goes, I thought it was a low spot at first, but it's supposed to be a small hole. Just poke it through and you are fine

underside of cluster area. A little trimming necessary to reveal the original mounts for the lights. The edges that meet up with the lower dash plastic are not as sharp as the orignal. if anything will require work it will be these areas where you have to trim the excess vinyl and foam carefully so it matches up right. My plan is to use a heat gun and careful trimming of the foam to shape it correctly up tight with the dash plastic if needed.

Another couple shots of how this dash overlaps the vinyl as compared to an originals more precise parting edges. Doesn't look like a big deal. Even if it is off a little it looks a million times better than a stick on dash cap, is way cheaper than a nice original that you can never touch for fear of cracking, and Nick's deal can't be beat on the price. AGAIN-THIS IS A CUDA DASH COMPARED TO AN ORIGNAL CHALLENGER DASH, so it is shaped a little different in spots and the grain is different on purpose.

Last few shots of the A/C slots and the underside. Pad itself looks a little thicker than the original. Padding is definitely stiffer foam. On the soft parts of my original dash you can push on the vinyl and feel the spongey foam underneath. On the new pad there is very little give. Not really good or bad, just an observation. Overall I am very happy. Looks great, priced well. I'll know more once I actually install it. I am less concerned about authenticity as I am about good looks in general, so the restoration experts may have items to pick at that I care nothing about. As long as it fits well I am happy. I may get a chance this weekend to put it in the barracuda. Anybody local to DFW Texas need a non A/C cuda dash cap?

Thanks for sharing the pictures :clapping:

It does not have a very heavy grain in the new dash, more smooth looking.  You will have to repost once you have the lower dash pieces next to the dash to compare with.

Looks great though..................

I guess I confused you, sorry about that, here is how it works......
Group Buy Price $476.00 + $95.00 for the Core charge + $55.00 for the Shipping - pad Color: Black total is $626.00
The manufacture uses original steel frames from all the cores that are being sent back from everyone that wants to.
As far as the core goes, it can be sent back as late as Christmas, maybe longer if I can get the OK on it.
the core cost is $95.00 and Remember that the manufacure will pick up the tab on shipping the core back to them from the lower 48 states. Once the core is picked up and delivered to the manufacture they will credit me and I will credit you the $95.00 back.
Once you order the pad from me, I will place the order with the manufacture.
I am telling everyone that it could take as long as 4 weeks for your order to ship, some pads go out as quickly as 3 days and others have taken 2 1/2 weeks so far.
Once your pad is delivered to you, then let me know when you are ready to send back the old pad and I will have the manufacture pic up the pad and pay for the shipping of the old pad back to them.

1. If you decide you want a pad, I need you to email me the following information
Name -
billing address -
shipping address -
phone number -
Cuda or Challenger pad needed - Challenger
year of car - 72
speakers how many -
do you have A/C -
Forum Name -
have or do not have a core -
Color of pad - Black

When do you want to order it?

Please let me know a good day or evening to call you on the phone,

I will be calling others on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday evening and from 2pm - 8pm on Saturday or Sunday...........
