What Terry showed you is a solid sleeve with shims. It is to replace the standard "crush" sleeve that comes in your kit. The crush sleeve is a pain in the butt as if you go too far on the crush, well then, you have to start over with a new crush sleeve  :swear: where as in the solid sleeve with the shims, you set your gear backlash with the shims. No crush involved. It's much easier and well worth the extra 30 bucks!! :2thumbs:

Even though I won't be doing it myself?  I'll basically be takin out my 3rd member and bringing it to someone else with the new gears and carrier and having them install them, then I'll install it back into my car.

The spacer is stronger than the crush sleeve also, everything is bottoming out against something solid instead of just against the "squish" of the crush sleeve.

The Dr. Diff one is suppose to be cheaper and machined more correctly. The Summit one is sometimes too thick where you don't need any shims with it and the spacer needs to be machined a little also. When I did mine ,I needed no shims at all,the spacer came out right by itself so I would say that it is true. ;D

And also if you ever need to change your pinion seal down the road, you'll be glad you did, just plain simplier (is that a word?)
