rear window clip location...pics needed
« on: February 15, 2008 - 10:46:11 PM »
I am installing the clips that hold on the rear window trim and wanted to see if anyone had any pics of this. I just need to know how many clips go across the top and down the sides. Plus there are 2 clips that look like they hold the glass down, but I am not sure where they go. The guy I bought the car off of just glued the trim on and didn't clip it.

the 2 that that look like they hold the glass down actually screw into the bottom and hold it "centered" in the frame, kinda like those little rubber blocks you get with the window ribbon. sorry, i dont have pictures.

So they screw into the dutchman panel, where at? In the far corners, 1 in, or in the center? I am assuming that they go sideways and do not protrude into the interior? Also, does the "hump" part stick up or down?

Ok, here are some pics of the clips to help. There is a square hole in the middle on the hump and a round hole that looks like a tab. The square hole has a "v" groove in it as to hold something in place and keep it from sliding.

Here are some pics of me putting them in the car. Is this correct or do I have them upside down? I put them in the 3rd hole from the corners. I put the screw through the round hole.

The glass company that came to my shop and installed the rear glass had me take mine off and put the old type original rubber stops in. They claimed the steel stuff would eventually chip the glass and could cause it to crack down the road

Sounds good to me. Does anyone know how many clips go along the top and down the sides of the rear window. I am assuming 3 per side and the rest on the top. The previous owner cut all the clips tabs off and weatherstripped the chrome on. I sanded down the entire lip and found no rust, so I don't know why he did that.

Looks like 8 on top and 3 on sides  of my cuda. You may just buy the 70 kit since they screw down and come with the screws.

Got a deal today.  I have been looking for rear and windshield clips.  From YO, they are over $40.00 plus freight.  I went to one of our local body shops that has been in business for a long time.  Asked if they had clips.  The owner showed me the bins where they keep the  clips and other attaching parts.        Had the exact clip I needed and were in a Chrysler box.  I got 24 of them with the screws.....................For $6.00.     Finally something went right.      Now if the front still had the holes where the clips went, I would know if the 10 I have left would do the rest of what I need.  There were 14 needed for the rear.
