Mistitled 'Cuda kit?

Hey all!!

This Hemi Cuda model kit I bought off the eBay arrived today, and the first thing I noticed was that the box was titled "1970 Hemi Cuda", and it's clearly a '71.

Should I open it up and hack away, or is it collectable enough to warrant not opening the shrinkwrap?  I wanted to combine this kit with the 1970 Challenger T/A kit so I can build a decent '70 Challenger with a Shaker, possibly the rear window louvers if they fit or can be made to fit.  If you build model kits and own a Challenger, you probably know that the '70 Challenger model kit with the Shaker by AMT/Ertl isn't a very good model.

I know this is kinda dorky, but I build model kits in the evenings sometimes to relax after working on the 1:1 scale thing.

Revell made (might be making again now) an AAR that is the correct year, maybe you could use that kit and swap some parts..

Save it. A few years ago it was considered a collectable due to the error. I had one but cant recall what happened to it.

I don't think the mis-titleing is very uncommon. I've seen several die cast cars that were mis-titled.

...I just checked mine...I have 2 unopened kits like that...identical box art...one says 1970 and one says 1971....

...I also have several Revell kits of the 69 Vette coupe with the "429"...it was corrected quickly by the company, but never recalled that I know of...

I guess the guys who did the drean car garage calender do model boxes also
