I would never buy a used converter , if the last trans failed it could wash all the debris into your good trans & wreck it

I meant a recondition used one from a torque converter shop... I would never just throw one in there outta someone elses car....  :scared:

TIRES....  I can't believe how much of a market there is for used tires...  And more important, I couldn't people who would pass up on NEW tires at $40 to $50 a piece and get USED tires for $30...  Unbelievable...  I mean, realize this - you've got a 2-ton vehicle running down the road, and the ONLY THING keeping that car on the GROUND is 4 patches of rubber each about the surface size of a Big Mac...  now that just scares the hell outta me.

Other than that, I wouldn't buy used pumps of any kind - fuel pump, water pump, tranny pump, oil pump...  The only reason people take those parts OUT of cars is 'cause they quit working in the first place.

Can I have an Amen?

Seatbelts. That is unless they are in a very unused and un-weathered condition. New one are not expensive enough to skimp out on.

Used struts, brakes, and switches have to be the top things to never purchase used unless the switches have next to no wear on them.  I've purchased window/door lock switches for the Stealth at something like $20-$30 for each side, but requested detailed close-ups to ensure they weren't used to the point where the lettering was fading.  Considering a new driver's side was $180 and they didn't even have the passenger side listed, I think I did quite well.  There are a ton of people always looking for used tires and while there are some good deals out there for just about brand new tires, a lot of them don't really work out too well for the buyer, given what he/she paid for them.  I seem to see a lot of people looking for used vacuum lines, too.  Those things are dirt cheap new, so why risk getting cracked/brittled ones?!!!

Pistons, cams(except maybe roller),valve springs, lifters, timing chains,clutches-just about any wear type item but it`s amazing how much of those items you see at swap meets. To top it off they are usually laying on the dirt ground in the rain and the guy selling stuff will tell you it`s in really nice shape!  :smilielol:
