Replacing control arm bushings

I see these "special" tools on E-bay and at other sources for removing and installing upper and lower control arm bushings.  Are they really required or can a person simply use a shop press to replace these bushings?  If I took them to a machine shop to do it would they not use a shop press?  I bought Ploy uppers from Energy Suspension and the lower shaft bushings are the rubber type that come with sleeves.

If I can use a press, any tips?

You can use a press if you have access to one if not the thread type tools do work although mine only lasted through 2 sets before I had to replace the ceter threaded rod with a higher grade one

Geez, for what they charge for those tools they should have a better grade of rod.  :2cents:
