I'm going to be installing a new 380hp 360 crate engine and the thought of a OD would be really cool. I have access to a newly rebuilt set of 3.55 surgrip gears if I want them but they would probably be too high for a OD. If I go to the 518 instead of a 727 I need to decide soon. Thats why Im asking whats involved, what mods need to happen and at what cost (additional parts), although the labor I'll do myself.

also anyone know what year OD trans came with non locking TQ's?
Im getting the impression the locking TQ is not the way to go here, will a high stall TQ fit the locking TQ trans?
