« on: December 29, 2003 - 09:26:43 PM »
Hi everyone! I'm new on this forum and I found it very great and cool! So I have a question for you! Can somebody tell me what is the correct rear wing for a 73'Challenger, the 70' go-wing style or the 71'? Thanks for all your answer! :D

Even if it were not in option, I read that the dealer could install it has the request of the purchaser, so which correct style is considered for this this year? Is it to the choice of the purchaser??? thanks!!!  ::)

It was up to the buyer which style if they had both, usually, they would just put on whatever one was lying around. More 71 wings were put on in 72, 73, 74 only because more dealers had more access to them.

If I were you, I'd go with the T/A style rear wing...I am probably going to get one for my '73 when I'm finished restoring it.

Welcome aboard too!!! 8)

Thanks ! :)
This help me a lot for a better choice!
I had also thought of putting a T/A rear wing, but finally I believe that I rather will choose the '70 "go-wing" style. I would like to see a photo when your challenger will be  finished! :D And good luck for your resto! 8)

Hi Chally73,
You can't really make a bad choice here. I went with the 70 "go wing" style myself. I just liked the look of something up in the air. For some reason, the 71 "gull wing" is alot more expensive. I can't figure that one out, but you'll like the look once you do it. It just scared the $hit out of me when I drilled holes into my trunk lid. No turning back after that. Good luck.

I also went with the 70 wing on my 73. One suggestion, before installing, make sure hole locations are properly scoped out. The guy that installed mine missed by about an inch. Would help if he had had a true template or a deck lid with the cutouts for the wing placement. Oh well too late now and it isn't a show car anyway. Since the wing was not really an option for these cars the deck lids usually don't have the cutouts from the factory.
Good Luck

I lucked out a freind of mine had a GO WING in the trunk of a 74 lemans he bought for the motor he did not no what to do with it so he gave it to me. I found a deck lid with the underside braceing with the correct holes in it so I did not have worry about misalignment. I got the underside brackets from Sherman associates very reasonably and made the attachment harware by drilling and tapping a 1/4 thred into a 1/2 inch bolt it worked great ;D
