Fuel Pump Question
« on: December 09, 2001 - 07:39:25 PM »
would there be any fuel pump (electric) that did not need a regulator. I coudnt see one under my hood however it might be mounted under the car some where. I will have to look more at it.

I posted this on d-c.com but wanted some e body opinions too

Most if not all electric fuel pumps come with and require a regulator, even so that doesn't mean that some idiot didn't leave it out of the system! If you don't have one you should, most people mount them in the engine bay in a tidy spot away from heat or physical harm (like any part of the fuel system should be). There is a chance that it's installed back by the fuel tank near the fuel pump on your car but this isn't really common or desirable. If you don't run a regulator you can have major fuel pressure problems in the carb; seals, needle&seat, etc.

Good luck!

Oh, shucks!  We lost my little fuel pump story!  I'll have to get back to it when I have more time. ;)
