Unbelievable parts grief
« on: August 22, 2008 - 12:46:45 PM »
Bought a 70 Challenger grill on Ebay and it arrives warped, paid money order  so no recourse. Ordered a set of 'restored' bezels from G and D musclecar parts and they arrived yesterday with a scratch on one side. They emailed me back to return them as they stated what did i expect for $350? The stated they were painted and the leading edge was restored, but you would of thought they would mention a scratch. (I can get a set restored from tuffwhell resto for that) I can send 'em back less shipping plus my shipping to send them back. . I am getting frustrated as my car has been in the body shop for 1 1/2 years already and the bills are piling up and I keep getting crap parts.  :violin:I have rcvd non 70 seat belts when I paid for 70's, lower dash pieces have arrived broken........I have to also state that some parts were in great shape and the sellers were honest. Theproblem is there are just no Challenger parts here and Ihave to buy long distance.

I got a carb from them for my 69 charger that was in "rebuildable condition".  It showed up with parts missing and such.  I called them on it and they said, oh well the parts missing are included in a rebuild kit.  Ok, I admit, some of the small missing parts were but other items such as jets and such are NOT included in rebuild kits.   Hopefully I will not need to get stuff from them again.

I share your grief brother. My frustration is from buying stuff that sellers swear is for a '70 Cuda only to research later that they're wrong. Off the top of my head, I now have 5 wrong gas caps, 2 sets of wrong fender turn signals and a variable wiper switch with the wrong part number. I guess I can only blame myself for not doing the research and asking enough questions before buying.  :banghead:

Buying parts for us up here sure can be a pain.

You can use me for a go between if need be before they go out of the country. I would have nothing to gain from this, but could help you guys overseas to make sure you are recieving what you pay for. I know it causes more time frustrations, but maybe the quality would be improved for you. Just offering a hand for you...ALAN

im sorry to here the bad luck storys , but many problems are self inflicted .i have had only a few minor problems buying on ebay myself . never buy from it looks complete or im not well versed with this part. or if its cheep and you laugh all the way to the bank you didnt screw the seller he got you .asking for more pics is a fools game .ask point blank damage cracks or other and save the response for paypal usually the guy clams up . ask for part #s thats your falt if not asked some sellers dont care about #s .i always include that  info also helps my sales . also i sell driver quality parts but note the flaws and sell for less and all goes well . greed some times clouds ones natural judgement .research and think ,i sold a set of wheel covers this week three customers asked the dimensions all three were added to the q@a  and also on the description  this tells me many dont even read the page .i hope you guys take a moment and think about the wording listed above it speeks volumes . cheers

Sorry to hear about your problems. Try to use Paypal and you at least have a little protection. If you are looking for parts, look on here first, or put an ad in your local car rag. I've found that its sometimes better to recondition an old part than to buy a reproduction unless you're building a high dollar show car. If you are going to buy something, float it on here first, because its likely that no matter who you are buying from, someone will have had experience with them.

The classic is Challenger and Cuda door handles.  They ARE different, but half the eBay shops use to say they fit both.  Of course the Challenger handles I bought were really for a Cuda.  I got lucky and sold them for a 15% loss locally  :swear:  Use PayPal and Discover credit card for purchases because they will go to bat for you if there are problems.  :2cents:

Well, there ya go! Learn something new every day. I never thought about it, but I always assumed the handles were the same.

its funny that mopar sells the door handles as cuda and challenger .when looking at a pair at a swap meet just note the challenger is concave or rounded in and cuda are curved outward .i have sold many challenger versions on ebay many buyers dont know the difference. i dont think many sellers know either.c
