disc brake shields on drum brake spindles?
« on: April 13, 2008 - 03:21:19 PM »
Does anybody know if the repop shields would work or could be made to fit 70 drum brake spindles on my challenger?  :dunno:

Are you running disc brakes on the drum spindles?

Perhaps if you drilled and tapped the drum spindles in an area to match the dust shield mounting holes they would fit. Otherwise no, they won't just bolt on.

Yes I am running the drum/Willwood disc conv. kit from Magnumforce.

Thanks Hp2. Guess the spindle is the same basic shape then?

Well, no, but there may be enough area to cover at least two of the three bolts.

I've got all three pieces in my garage; drum spindle, disc spindle, and disc shield. Want me to snap a picture of their layout?

It might be easier to make your own sheild.

It's what I thought. Two holes line up. The third doesn't. But a drill and tap and you could make them work, provided they don't interfere with the calipers.

First pic is the drum spindle on the left, disc on the right. Second pic is the disc splash shield on the drum spindle. You can see how the two lower mounting holes in the shield can be mounted, but the top third hole is in open air.
