cleaning up a rim
« on: April 22, 2008 - 06:46:09 PM »
Just got a used rim in the mail today....looks good....no visible rust, but it's scratched up pretty good.  How can I go about getting it to look close to new?  What type of paint can I use that won't chip/frey?   :dunno:

Without seeing it... Can this possibly be sanded smooth? If not, maybe some type of media blasting will do the trick?  :dunno: Eastwood sells the Rally wheel paint, if that is what you have.  :1zhelp:

Here's some pics of it.  Not a bad rim IMO for $66.00 ($44.00 + $20.00 s/h):

It could probabbly be sanded off, but a quick bead blasting would be the best bet at a lasting finish.  If you don't have access to one, lots of machine shops and body shops would probably do it cheap, and even headstone places sometimes will help out.
