Back-up Light stays on
« on: April 22, 2008 - 11:01:38 PM »
My back-up light on my '70 challenger works (properly) in reverse; goes out in neutral/park -- but unfortunately comes on when going forward......

Any suggestions on what may be causing this....??

Thanks

I was leaving this for someone with experience like Terry.... There have been several posts on the subject you might do a search but it seems like the switch can be too far in or not far enough in, there is some adjustment that can be made to the shifter I think...& of course the hardware in the tranny that pushes on the switch can have issues.

I have the same thing.  I just took out the light until I have time to correct.  I started to put a spacer in the switch on afternoon but I didn't have the car slanted enough and fluid started out.  Later I said.  I don't drive much at night anyway!!  at least not in the Challenger.

it could be the wrong Comb inside the tranny on the valve body but I doubt it , as suggested above you may need a double gasket to move the switch out a bit

Great minds think alike -- I had already taken the light bulbs out -- but still would like to get it "fixed" at some point.   Thanks for the advice!
