Anyone know what this heater box belongs in?
« on: May 08, 2008 - 04:53:49 PM »
OK, knucklehead me buys a heater box on E-bay without cross-referencing the photos to what I have - going solely on the description of a "1970 Baracuda heater box."  Of course, it's not the right one.   :banghead:  A cheap lesson, only $40.00, including shipping.

Anyone know which Barracuda gets part #2936623?  It's non-A/C.  Oh, and for sale to any member who can use it for the $40.00 I paid plus shipping to you.

I'm not sure on that part number; my 440-4 non-AC R/T SE came with PN 2936602 so maybe that's from a small block car.

Don't give up the search yet man, they're still out there :grinyes: I happened to do my weekly ebay parts search just hours after this one was advertised with a $125 B-I-N price :faint: :clapping: :woohoo: Turns out to have come from a 66K 70 'cuda that the owner installed a Classic Auto Air system in. I haven't taken it totally out of the box it was shipped in yet but what i can see is extremely clean. The chorus from 'Just Got Lucky' started looping through my loopy brain :ylsuper:

What is the problem?... It looks just like the heater box from by '73 Challey.

Hmmm...maybe it is from an E-body, just a non-A/C car.  Mine, however, is an A/C car.  My box is in OK shape, once I open it up and get the remainder of the mouse nests out of it.  The only problem with mine is the fiberglass around the blower motor mount is torn.  I imagine a good fiberglass guy could fix it.

A/C cars, and non A/C cars had different boxes.

Greg, I noticed in your resto thread that you were looking to change the firewall to a non-A/C setup. If your going to do that then this is the box you will need, otherwise replace or repair your A/C box even if not completing the A/C system.

Wade, I think you've got me confused with someone else - TopCat or BlueGlow maybe.  I know TC is in the middle of changing his to non-A/C and BlueGlow was inquiring about what was involved.  I'm not planning on changing my car.  I may convert to a Classic Auto Air system some day, but not soon.  I'll just fix mine.  Slotts has first shot at this one.

2936623 does not show up in the '70-71 parts book, nor in the January 1984 cancelled parts list.

2936622 is "HSG. Htr Rr." for Challenger/Barracuda, under section 1-48-125, HEATER HSG. and Defroster Dr. Package; year not specified which normally means the part fits both 1970 and 71.

Perhaps the 623 is not actually an orderable p/n, or not for '70 - '71 but also not discontinued or superceded prior to 1984...
