Cuda Tech
« on: May 30, 2008 - 10:33:44 AM »
Just signed up and put a couple posts out on the board.  I'm familiar with the Jeep boards personally and I 'm trying to find out some info on the '65 Cuda for my Dad and his possible project.

If you have any tech pages that I haven't come across,  a helpful pointer in the right direction would be appreciated.

anyway, the first of many questions: What Auto tranny would be found behind the slant six in a '65 cuda?  If more info needed, let me know I'll see what I can find out.

Also, any thing that might be good to know before starting in on this model for a project would be appreciated.
Thanks
Brent

A slant six would have a 904 behind it.

If you want to restore it to stock, parts may be hard to find, but based on the photos in your other threads, the trim pieces and other things are in good shape.  So long as the metal is in as good a shape as it looks in the photos, you won't need any new sheetmetal, which is a good thing, since no one makes it for the 1stgen Barracudas.  I also doubt you'd be able to find a new dashpad, but you can send it off to Just Dashes and they can restore it.

The good thing is that there are plenty of pieces from other Mopar iron that are fairly easy to swap into it, so if you and your dad are looking at upgrading the car, you should be able to do so without too much trouble.

Cool deal,  thanks for the info.  Pops has thoughts of a 273, maybe 318 to drop in it.  And a Disc Front Brake conversion.  Other than that, restoring the rest.

thanks

Check Scarebird for a disc brake conversion info & parts
the slant 6 belhousing will only fit the 6 , you need a different tranny for the small block v8 swap
