Rim Blow Wheel
« on: May 03, 2008 - 09:00:55 AM »
I have a rim Blow wheel which I won't be using. I've decided to go with a Tuff wheel instead. I don't have the center cap and it's got 3 cracks in the back.

I could use it. Hows 100 bucks sound?  But I am curious if it is smaller then a wood wheel. I would like that. The 6 way seat seems to make a wood wheel a bit hampering

Moparal,

I am just getting input right now. It's been 20 years since I bought and sold parts...I don't know what they are worth today. I'll probably plan on trading stuff, when I finalize what I am missing.

On the wheel size:
Wood Grain is 16in diameter
Rimblow is 16in also
Tuff is 14.5 in

I'm going to use a Tuff wheel since the seats I plan to use are taller than the stock seats.

Thanks for the input.

Thanks, since it's the same size, it really wouldnt do me any good. I know restored complete rim blows are very costly up towards 900 or so. A guy here restores them. I am not up on the used wheel prices needing restoreing.  So I can't give you an average. But I am sure it's worth 100 bucks to me. Probably more maybe since the cracks are in the back

I've paid anywhere from $50 to $600 for good cores. Typically the better condition, the better the price. The spoke condition is usually the determining factor on how much they're worth as rechroming is not perfected yet. Everything else is repairable or replaceable. It's hard to tell from the picture posted whether the spokes would clean up nice or not. Sometimes an "in-person" evaluation is necessary. If the spokes are nice without any pitting or bubbling, then it should bring $200-$300
