« on: May 10, 2008 - 10:55:54 AM »
installed new engine harness, topclip on alternater w/ blue/blue& white wire heated up and started smoking seems to be the same wire that started the problem im pretty sure harness is installed correctly, do you think it is the alternator. also there are two wires right next to alternotor clips with metal connectors brown and grey i believed would have gone to ignition , but i taped them off as i am running msd ignition , was this correct

yes I think it is the alternator , probably a shorted diode take an Ohm meter & see if the terminal is shorted to ground

are those two wires that you said to connect to the red msd wire off the engine harness or if i just replaced the harness [where it was already msd egnition and up and running] are they already in place because when i removed the old harness, i didnt have to remove anything from the msd system     thnks for your help

thr 2 wires to connect are the Brown & dk blue at the ballast , the MSD comes with a pigtail already made to plug in & no it will not have an affect on the alternator charging
