need help aligning front bumper
« on: May 11, 2008 - 09:06:02 PM »
I cant get the passenger side to slide in far enough to cover the bottom of the grill. THe drivers side is. What options do I have other than removing it all and elongating the holes on the brackets where they bolt on to the frame rails.

I had to leave all the brackets very loose on mine with just a couple of threads started in all of them, then put it all in place and tighten it all up. Seemed like it took forever, but I got it.

Is this the first time you have had the bumper on?  Is it possible that the car might have been in an accident before you had it that might have thrown the alignment off a bit?  Unless its the wrong bumper or bracket (Challenger bracket possibly?) I wouldn't think you should have any problems.  :dunno:

Its not bad. THere are many unknowns on the car. It has glass fenders, I bought the bumper used at Big daddys and it had the brackets attached. THe grill also needed some repair. So, as you can see, there are several areas that could make for a tough fit. I could enlarge the holes in the brackets where they bolt into the frame and slide it back .25".............later though.

just had mine off to have it plated, I left it snug until it was where I wanted it ,then tightened it down.  Do you already have the bumperplate installed and trying bto mount the bumper to it?

No, I had it all together loosely. Used a jack to push one side up where I wanted it, but it will just not go back any further.......thats why I decided to just elongate the slots a bit- later.
