if a 1 wire system is internally regulated , why does year one list 2 wire and a single wire both externally regulated.do you think 75 amp is too much for wiring harness.is 2 wire the stock setup , is it not actually the wires but the connectios because mine has 2 on 1 clip, 1 on another clip and then the one on the bottom with the nut on it

1 wire external ws used up to 69 & switched power on /off to the alt
2 wire external was used 70 & up to what 90 or so , it has constant power & switched ground with a different style regulator ,
I would put a second power feed line from the alt to the battery so all the power doesn`t have to go through the firewall plug & ammeter

o.k. so i can have the wire from the harness connected and add an additional line to the battery. should the additional line be heavier gauge

This is a good mod as the stock wiring and firewall connectors were marginal and with extra loads like electric fans, stereos, etc. it is pushing the limit.  Bypassing the ammeter and installing a voltmeter is another good upgrade.  There are some good threads on this stuff in this forum.
