70 Challenger Bumper Jack Mast Length
« on: May 15, 2008 - 09:56:32 AM »
I am restoring a 70 Challenger 440-6 R/T SE, and recently purchased a bumper jack on E-bay.  I am trying to confirm the correct mast length for the tube style mast, as opposed to the solid wye type which I understand should be 34-1/2".  The rivet has and 0D, so it is correct for a 1970 vehicle.

Thanks,
David

David, did Rick not answer your question? If not call Franl Badalson, never mind I will call Frank I need to talk to him any way. And by the way I took the mast ( solid type) out and it is actually closer to 34.25. Ron in Plano

I have e-mailed Rick who indicated he could restore it, but was not sure of the mast length.  He indicated he would check but I have not heard back yet.

Thanks,
David

I just got of the phone with Frank Badalson, who I consider to be an authority on most Mopar matters, and Frank indicated that for the tube type mast the length could be 34" or 35.25" . Both have the same patent #.

My mast is about 35-1/8" with patent number 3163925 stamped into it.  Did he note the patent number?  It's sounding like I'm good with the jack I purchased.

I appreciate your help Ron!

No, I'm sorry I don't. Frank is easy to get hold of, let me know if you need his #. Frank's like me, it's easier to reach him by phone.

Heard back from RestoRick and also talked to Frank today.  They both verified the tubular mast length was 35-1/8".  Frank also confirmed the Patent No. listed above and that the tubular mast was likely provided in a Nov. 69 build date car like mine.

Yahoo!!

Just thought I'd share what I learned today.

Thanks,
David

That's good to hear David; I knew Rick or Frank could answer your question.
