Glad to hear you are doing better April. It really sounds like the dog needs put down. It is just dangerous. You need not feel like it is on you. It is just the way things are. I would contact the dogs owner and ask for compensation for your loss. I would think the lady would be glad to do that over ending up in court. I know you don't like to sue, but you need compensated.

April, I glad your feeling better. And are that understanding. I hope the lady at least calls to check on you. Let me know if you need anything. Maybe MEK will lend you one of his pink shirts. :stirpot:  :roflsmiley: :roflsmiley:

I am glad you are doing better. The lady is probably dreading calling you for fear of litigation, it is most likely why she stated the dog would be put down. You are right in that it is probably pretty hard on her as well. I would not read a whole lot into her not calling, I bet she really wants to but again is dreading what you might say or do. Here is hoping you heal up the rest of the wya with no issues. My daughter was bit by a pit bull and that family was really freaked out thinking we would sue but to make a long story short, my daughter is ok and that is the most important thing. In that situation it was not the dogs fault really. The boy my daughter was playing with had her distract is while he tried to shut the gate. Well the dog got out and since it thought my daughter was inticing it, it attacked. I applaud you for not overreacting, it is not too common nowadays with our sue happy society.

I am glad you are doing okay.  I think you should call her up and ask her if she would at least cover the doctor bills, but that is up to you.  I hope you get to feeling better real soon.

Dogs are supposed to be mans ( and womens ) best friends. I love dogs, have been attacked a few times in similar situation to yours, but I don't let it change me.
The owner has a responsibility to make good your expenses at the very least. If this dog has attacked before then the owner must do something about it. She may be embarassed especially being a police officer, perhaps you could write a note telling her what you think and what you want done.
I hope the wounds heal quickly and don't scar you.  Keep smiling, heal quickly you have to love animals to work with them.      :2thumbs:

April, even though this was bad news, I'm glad that you weren't badly hurt.
I hope you will be well soon. And I also hope that the dog owner has backbone enough to take responsibility for what her dog did to you.

Glad to hear that you are ok April....as the owner of a dog with some issues, I can tell you that it is not easy to handle a dog like this....But knowing full well that the dog is not the best around others, is reason to not subject the dog to others or vice versa. The lady not keeping control of her dog is indeed, negligent with her knowing full well of the dogs potential.
In this sue crazy world, it sure nice to see a bit of sanity. Thank you for your love of animals. Its a good thing that we do not treat humans the same way that we treat animals....
