74 chal BLown radiator- Fix/Replace Options?
« on: May 06, 2008 - 04:17:43 PM »
Came home from a little drive the other day, Shut off the car and pop, Coolant all over the floor  :1zhelp:

Id like to keep the car as original as possible, Looking for a replacement or should i try to recore it and fix the one I got?
Its out of a 318 3-speed manual car.

Any info would be great, thanks!

Always, always keep your numbers matching stuff :2thumbs:  I had mine recored and they did a 3 row flute for me and it cost me 190 bucks to have done and up graded. You could buy new and leave the original in the garage

I bought a new replacement from rock auto for around 140 bucks.  It looks original.

I used my local radiator shop. The core came from a place in Georgia. It was made for my tanks, the the radiator shop put it all together. The total with tax was under 210 actually. I installed it myself

I have to agree with keeping the original.  I bought a new radiator 12 years ago and stored the original radiator in the garage.  I also kept my factory water pump and torque clutch fan when I replaced my originals last summer.

Do you have an overflow tank?  Maybe it was just expansion.  Just a thought.
