PST Hyper-Flex bushing kit
« on: July 28, 2008 - 12:22:17 PM »
Ok, this past week I was in Akron, Ohio for the Soap Box Derby World Championship race. My hotel was one exit from Summit Racing. I went and purchased a new front end kit for my Chally. I purchased the PST Hyper-Flex Polyurethane bushings. How many of you use them, and do you like them? I understand the key is to lube well to keep them from squeaking, but is there anything else you may suggest?

I put poly in all my rebuilds. I have had no more problem with them squeaking than some rubber suspension cars, but others seem to have had big complains about squeaks. Use the supplied lube liberally.

Only thing to watch out with poly kits is strut rod bushing thickness. Some poly kits use too thick a strut rod bushing which will not allow the lower control arm to fully seat. Examine the lower control arm position carefully before dis-assembly and compare that to its location after assembly. Any large variation can be corrected by turning down the strut rod bushing on a lathe.

I have never had to cut them down and I've rebuilt a dozen different front ends. However, I bring it up as there is always a car out there that has tolerance stack up and parts don't fit.
