Fish out of water!!!
« on: May 22, 2008 - 10:15:43 AM »
After nearly a year of owning the Cuda I finally got the chance to get it up on the Dyno. My good friend owns PRO-Dyno here close to Charlotte but the only problem is that his shop caters largely to the Ford/Mustang crowd. I just happened to pick a day that his shop was loaded with Cobras including a couple of badass 07/08 Shelby GT500s!! Anyways I had alot of fun and the car turned out awesome # considering I have yet to tune the car (last night was just base line pulls) and was very lean up top and the timing was turned down. I am going to make a couple of changes this week and hopefully will be able to pull an extra 20 to 30 hp out of it!! The final #s were 399 rwhp (it kills me not lie and say 400!! :pullinghair:) and 393tq though the 727 with a 4000 stall! This was on a Dynojet 248c and those #s are std. I'll post the dyno sheet soon. In the mean time here are a couple of pics!!

PS. There were at least another 1/2 dozen cobras (mostly 03/04) sitting outside!!!

Thanks! :2thumbs: Yeah its known that Mustang Dynos read low. Not too many around here. Being here in NASCAR country I know that most teams use Dynojet, in fact Pro-Dyno has rented theirs out to a couple of teams before. Just curious to what combo you run and what it put down?

Nice :2thumbs: Just out of curiosity, do you know the numbers that some of the cobras put down?

Nice dyno #s!   I would be afraid to put my car on a dyno!!!  :-[

How did the Cobras do?  Mustang Cobras or 427 Shelby CObras (The 2 seater deals)?  :dunno:
1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

Thanks guys and gal(s) ;)! I wish I could say that the Cobras were afraid of the 'Cuda but the truth of the matter is that an 03/04 Cobra puts down 365 to 380rwhp straight out if the box. Ones with simple bolt-ons and a ported stock Eaton blower can make 550rwhp!!! Swap the Eaton for a Whipple or a Kenne-Bell and watch those #s jump to 650 to upwards of 700rwhp :22yikes:!! The one in the pictures on the dyno is a good example of a typical bolt on car and it laid down 525hp to the tires with a hand ported stock Eaton. The new Shelby GT500 is a bad mother too!! Swap out the stock blower for a Whipple and that bad boy can put down right at 800rwhp on a race tune. There was one GT500 that they dyno'ed that had a Whipple and a small shot of gas that exceeded 900 to the tires :worshippy :worshippy To bad it puked its guts out shortly afterwards. :puke: I guess its time to tell you guys that I own a performance shop that specializes in Ford high performance. We deal heavily in the late model SVT vehilcles being well known for our Lightnings and 02/03 Harley Davidson F150s. I have built several 10 second Lightnings and 11 second H-D F150s. We are currently moving in to the Cobra market. I actually sold my Lightning and a 93 LX mustang w/ a 408 stroker to buy the 'Cuda. To the Cuda's defence it is set up to get down the track and will e.t. with bolt on Cobras with more than 100 plus more rear wheel hp. I know this for a fact, my head mechanic Adam owns an 03 Cobra that lays down 550rwhp and on a full set of slicks and skinnies runs consistant 7.20s @ 100mph in the 1/8 mile (its best is a 7.06). The Cuda has laid down a best of 7.26 @ 95mph 1/8 mile on a set of drag radials! With a full set of slicks and hooking up the transbrake I feel it should boogie on down.  :2thumbs:

Nothing wrong with Cobras IMO.  I went to the Tasca Ford Mustang show last year and Bob Tasca Sr. and Carroll Shelby were there along with John Force.  Lots of Shelby Mustangs there, new and old.  Very cool!  :grinyes:
