Racing update
« on: May 26, 2008 - 06:37:14 AM »
Ran the cuda yesterday at New England Dragway with my new BFG Drag Radials.I ran in the Street class against everything from minivans to all out trailered race cars with Dot tires.Beuatifull day, great air,ran my first time trial with the tires at 28 psi and my usual 4-5 second burnout and hooked great 1.999 60' and 13.46 ET,not bad but was hoping to go quicker.Second time trial tried a shorter burnout but spun a little and lost some 60' and ran 13.54.I thnk I need to drop the tire pressure a lot more as I ran my regular radial T/A`s down to 15-16 psi but I didn`t want to play to much as the next run is eliminations.I lined up against a girl in a Chevy station wagon, not street driven, and went back to my 4-5 second burnout but still spun thru first gear.i ran the car hard as I knew I was behind and saw her catching me but she peddled it and I got lucky and ended up with a win!I found out later from her dad who I know from the track she thought she might break out and got out of it.I slowed to a 13.8 due to the wheelspin.Next round I had a Firebird dialing 13.1 to my 13.45 so should be a close race all the way down the track.I got him off the line by my .067 to his .087 but he still got me by .027 at the line.I ran a 13.52 on a 13.45 dial so it was a good race. All in all a good day, went a couple rounds,no problems.Still not happy with my Et`s although my mph is back up to 101-102 so hopefully I can due some more carb tuning and play with tire pressure and launch rpm to lower my 60' and finally get my 12.xx!

definately more in it if you are twisting 101-102mph! my turd is trapping 13.6 @ 97 and there is a a tenth or two left in it. Knock that 60' down some and maybe some tweaking, there is a lot more fast in it!

I`m going back for a test and tune day to work on it.I`m starting to get frustrated I can`t get into the 12`s after porting the heads and changing cams but I`ll not giving up yet,I can`t afford that stroker motor yet anyways!  :pullinghair:
