Any suggestions for a non-dash mounted stereo?
« on: May 28, 2008 - 11:21:50 AM »
I intent to stick the original radio back in my 70 Challenger- it's too nice to do otherwise. But I would like something to play mp3's with- I don't care about radio or cd's. Does anyone know of a player that would work in my car?

Have you thought about sending it out to a classic car radio restorer?  Most of them will install RCA inputs in order to hook up an MP3 player, some even add FM to the AM only radios.  (I've never had the chance to use one of these companies, I've got a circa 1995 crappy Wally Mart head unit on my Chally)

A lot of folks with classic cars that want a modern tuner & don't want to cut/modify the original dash choose another option which is simply install the unit in the glove box. I have a '68 Cuda with the stereo head unit in the glove box. It works great & nobody knows it' there!! :2thumbs:

I dont know if they make them for AM radios, but I bought an FM broadcaster for my car that plugs into the lighter socket. You can put all of your MP3's on a memory card, and put the card right into the broadcaster. Works great. I think it cost around $50, but it has controls and everything on it.
