If the information I was given is correct, the 22" rad came on 318 non-air cars, and smaller displacement engines. The 26" rad came on 318 cars with air, and larger displacement engines.
I replaced my 22" with a 26" on my 70 cuda (non air). I had to cut the radiator core support hole larger so the 26" rad would fit. (all the core in the air flow) Radiator inlet is on the drivers side top, and outlet is pass side bottom.
Hope this helps...

22" also came in 440-6 cars (and others) without AC or an axle package.

the rad you need is a 22" wide , minimum high efficiency 2 core or 3 core with lower passenger side & upper drivers side hose connections
