Not quite the real thing but still...
« on: June 11, 2008 - 11:54:50 AM »
...just had to buy this 1/18 scale diecast model when i saw it.

Next time the weather gets too bad for cruising, i might take a bit of time to paint the grille surroundings chrome - as on my "Original".

Makes for a really nice decoration in any Mopar-man's livingroom.  ;D  8)

Looks very nice!  Just like your car!

It's nice to have a little version in the house when you can't look at the real one outside.  I made a 1/24 scale model of my car.

You're right Blue - everytime i pass by the model, it reminds me how lucky i am to have the real thing down in my garage.  :ylsuper:

Yours looks pretty cool too. And you made it yourself? Did you customize and paint a stock model, or did it come as a kit?

Yeah, made it myself.  I like plastic models as others on this site do also.  There are a few companies that make the '72-'74 stle cars but the one I liked most was the Japanese company ARII as the doors and hood open, although the interior and engine is lacking.

I added rims from a '70 Road Runner kit, tires from some sort of toy that you take apart from a drug store, seatbelts...  :blah:  :blah:  :blah:

There are some '70 kits available, possible some at Walmart but I think they are phasing them out.  Maisto has a diescast metal 1/24 scale Challenger, hard top and convertible that sells for less than $10 but I haven't seen any lately.  You can paint  it up to look like you car although they are shaker cars.  Johnny Lightning has a nice '70 Challenger, some with Cragar S/S, and may be found at Walmart also.  This one is the T/A style, they did have the Rally hood before.
