Thank you all for the explanations and clarification. I think I now have a fair idea on the structure, at least from the top.
Ken, you are right, it is a tough job and time consuming, but the body shop chap who is wanting to face the challenge is a highly experienced chap, semi retired and has lots of time on his hands. So I will let him have a go.
72blunblu would you oblige me by a couple of photos say from the inner side and from under the bonnet to see how they end there. Also, if you can, open the bonnet and take a shot from the side to see exactly how they ride onto the bonnet. That will really be great. Once I see those shots and show them to my chap, he can then decide to go for it still, or not :dunno:
MEK I checked p. g. classic but found nothing, neither in their store nor their ebay one. If I do find the fender ones, which are the hard ones to make, I could buy them and use them as a guide for the other one. Anyway, I will keep looking
Cheers, Farouk
my 71 came with one on it new that car was parted years ago for oparts for the 70 vert i found at the mustang junk yard{sitting between 2 stangs}
I sold the 2 fender pieces to a guy on peru who makes auto shifters that look like 4 spped ones.
I still have the center up in my attic somehware it is cracked as most are in the center and needs redone. they are made of pot metal and have studs to hold it on

Thanks 71ChallengerSE. These pictured do help. This leads me to another question, what about the headlight frames (Eyebrows). Do the wide hood extension fit over them as they are or do the eyebrows come modified in some fashion?
Also it is good you mention the special clips. I need to find out more about them, and if the bits offered by PG Classic also use them.
WHen you say we need six clips, is that for the whole car or only for the fenders. How many do I need in total.
Thanks

By "eyebrows" you mean the headlight bezels then yes the fender pieces fit over them. You need six of those special clips for the whole car, 3 for each fender chrome piece.

Thanks, but what about the center piece that fits onto the bonnet. No special clips? Screws directly onto the bonnet?

The center piece has studs on the back and it just attaches to the hood with speed nuts.

Are those clips made of plastic, rubber or metal?  Looks like something that I can fab up.

while obviously necessary to be original, my fender trim pieces mounted just fine with sheet metal screws (smaller holes in the fender too).
